Tomorrow is International Women’s Day.
Every year, we celebrate the incredible progress women have made in leadership, tech, and entrepreneurship. But what if the actual goal wasn’t just to see “more women in leadership” or “more female founders” but to reach a point where we don’t need those labels at all? Where success, talent, and impact are simply recognised for what they are, no labels attached?
The moment we label success differently based on gender, age or even ethnicity, we create a box. A founder should be just that, a founder. A great engineer is a great engineer. Talent, skill, and vision don’t come from the gender we're born with.
I’ve been fortunate to never let my gender define how I walk into a room. I know that’s not the case for everyone, and for that, representation and visibility matters.
Encouraging the CEOs, Founders, Managers out there. The more we see diverse leadership, the more we normalise it, not as an exception, but as the standard.
This is not a call for getting our quotas right! The numbers speak for themselves: Female-led businesses generate more revenue. Companies with more women in leadership are more profitable.
So while we celebrate tomorrow. Let’s make sure we’re not just celebrating women for existing in these spaces, we should be asking why they still have to fight to be recognised as the norm.
